Chris Kreussling (Flatbush Gardener) is a New York Master Naturalist and Certified Interpretive Guide. They are life members of the New York Flora Association, Long Island Botanical Society, and the Torrey Botanical Society, and served on the Torrey board (2017-2023). With a focus on insect-plant interactions, their work includes nature education, via talks, workshops, and nature walks, and community science, such as the Ground-Nesting Bees Project (2025), the Empire State Native Pollinator Survey (2019-2021), and iNaturalist-based BioBlitzes (ongoing).
They have gardened in New York City for over 45 years. They currently grow over 100 NYC-native plant species in their Brooklyn garden, which is a registered wildlife and pollinator habitat, butterfly garden, and monarch waystation. They've documented this ongoing transformation on their web site, Flatbush Gardener, and their garden’s biodiversity on iNaturalist.
