Seminar: "EAB Seminar: 'Influences of Nutrition, Management, and Exercise on Equine Bone'" - Brian D. Nielsen, PhD
Research commencing in 1990 revealed a surprising loss of bone mass associated with the onset of race training in two-year-old horses. That initial work spawned numerous studies creating a greater understanding of the factors impacting equine skeletal health. Reviewing those studies illustrates how research evolves and ideas change over time. Despite the available scientific knowledge, many in the horse community adhere to traditional beliefs or opt to incorporate new practices not supported by science, emphasizing the need for continued education of the equine community. This seminar features speaker Brian D. Nielsen, PhD, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Animal Science at Michigan State University.
