"Beyond the Usual Suspects: Risk Assessment and Management of Arcobacter butzleri, an Emerging Foodborne Pathogen"

Abstract:

Arcobacter butzleri is an emerging foodborne pathogen frequently associated with poultry products, yet important gaps remain in our understanding of its ecology and public health significance. This seminar will integrate research on its occurrence, detection, survival, and behavior in poultry with genomic approaches to characterize strain diversity, virulence, and antimicrobial resistance. These findings will be discussed within a microbial risk assessment framework to identify opportunities for improved detection, exposure assessment, and control.
